AdlerEwig® MDF is made of “chips” of selected woods, which are washed and
then refined by special metal discs which are able to separate the
fibres without breaking them up. During these operations, any
extraneous material is removed in order to ensure improved workability of the panel and reduced wear
of metal tools. The fibres are mixed with resins and deposited in the
form of a “mat” on a long moving belt: the entire mat goes through a
prepressing operation to eliminate air prior to final pressing. The heat and pressure of this
operation activate the resin which “binds” the fibres together to
create the MDF panel. The AdlerEwig® group is one of the major European
producers of these panels.
